Apple Time Capsule

I Just purchased the Apple Time Capsule last night.

It was easy to set up and the wireless router is much faster than my old router, thanks to wire less N.

The time machine function is now functional, funny how Apple made it work with its remote net work drive and not third party.

I guess for $300 it's not a bad deal.

How quick are backups over wifi?

The first one was 50 GB and it took hours.

I just did another one this morning and it was just a few mins, not much changed.

The hard drive in the time drive is silent, much better than my world drive.

My reco. is that when doing your "initial" backup with Time Capsule/Time Machine, is to back up via an ethernet connection, and then let the system do all future "snapshots" wirelessly. This will reduce the initial backup time significantly!!!!!

Congrats on your new purchase Blue

The USB port for the printer works real nice, I now have net work access to this printer without buying a print server.

I wonder if you can access the drive over the internet from another location?

Perhaps when using "Back to my Mac" or screen sharing via iChat :dunno:
