Call me crazy but...

Last weekend I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Pebble Bay in Monterey,Ca

The Room cost was over 200.00, book through hotels.com, and I spent the night sweating because the hotel DOES NOT HAVE AIR CONDITIONING wtf kind of Hyatt is this? Even the Motel Friggin 6 has Ac!

Hotels.com did NOT disclose this, and neither did the Hyatt

Call me crazy, but I want a refund, am I nuts?

Ryan, double-check your receipts from Priceline, and any literature for the hotel. If you stayed at the Hyatt Regency Monterey, (I didn't see anything on the Hyatt Regency site that mentioned any Hyatt Regency Pebble Bay, and Google doesn't know that name), there is nothing on the website for that hotel that says anything about air conditioning. It'd be one thing if your room had an a/c unit that wasn't working, but since the place isn't advertised as being air conditioned, there isn't really anything to ask a refund for. They didn't represent it as being air conditioned, at least not on the website.

So I think you're stuck on this one. But I'll wager in future you'll ask ahead, if it's important, right? :dunno:

More to the point - did you enjoy the trip? It's a really cool area.

I stay at a certain LEVEL of hotels so I don't need to ask silly questions like 'does it have AC" its a frigging Hyatt for God Sakes, and the trip was mediocre at best DUE to the fact is slept maybe 2 hours because I was so uncomfortable, so it dented my energy for the wedding. It just seems REALLY stupid to me

I know what you are saying...

If you are staying at a Hyatt, you would at least expect an AC... I don't know if you could get a refund here...

Best thing would be to call the hotel and ask to speak to the manager. Then, tell him/her about your visit and how you want a refund...

A Hyatt with no AC? Why didn't you mention this on check out? I understand your level of hotels, so all the more why you should have complained on the spot right?
Honestly, I would have called reception at once!

I don't think you are being unreasonable to expect AC at the Hyatt or for that matter any room which runs $200 per night. It would have never crossed my mind to ask with the accommodations you booked.

Good luck.

Bo,

I had the same issue when I stayed at that hotel. I was shocked there was no air conditioning.

I am constantly staying in Monterey as my racing league mostly tracks at Laguna Seca. And even though there is usually a nice ocean breeze, there is no excuse for a hotel to not have A/C.

I will never stay there again.. (P.S. - I think it's a historic building and they can't retrofit it.. But regardless of reason, I will not stay there again.

No A/C! I would expect any hotel to be air conditioned let alone a Hyatt. They should be forced to disclose that they don't have A/C if you ask me. It is just a given that they would have it otherwise. I would be pissed. If a hotel room does not have A/C, a TV, or a private bathroom it should be disclosed upfront IMO.

I haven't turned it on since I have the window open and I'm getting a nice breeze off the Atlantic. I'm really feeling sorry for you though. You coulda had the front desk bring you a fan. Or you coulda left your mini-bar fridge open for the night!!! :nanana:

Next thing you know you'll have to ask if they have running water...
