Eavesdropping on Nawlins'...
Found this local TV site, with streaming video...the usual talking heads filling time, but interesting. The traffic, outbound, is jammed with late deciders.
The NO & Gulf area will need pure, good fate to get through this. Mother Nature is The power on the planet. GL to all in the Path. BR,md Hit the Red Lettered "Live Coverage" link on upper mid center: http://www.wwltv.com/ |

I've been kind of listening to this as I've been doing other things... and it sounds bad. They're saying that there's going to be a 20-foot storm surge.. And I think New Orleans is below sea level. I was just there last month and it's RIGHT on the water of the Mississippi, and Lake Ponchartrain. It's serious... Let's just hope things shape up before landfall. They're warning that the winds will be so strong that very well-built buildings will suffer roof and wall failure, and things as large as household appliances, cars, SUVs, and light trucks could become airborne debris. Also, guests in the hotels in the city have nowhere to go so they're staying put. But they have to deal with the windows in their room blowing out, and the man that was on said they shouldn't go above maybe the 5th floor because the winds will be so strong... :tsk:
