Everyone in X5world doing okay this crazy night?

I think I've told this story before....

Summer 2004. Driving home from St. Louis to Chicago, on I-55. We stopped at the Illinois State Fair just to see what it was like. Basically, just a bunch of rednecks but veryy good corn. We get bored, and get ready to leave. I think we were gassing up the X (this was the E53) when it started to get a windy and it was getting darker. I turn on the radio, and hear a huge storm is approaching the area and there is a tornado watch. I decided to hit the road right then, and peel on to the interstate. As time goes by, the sky turns black and starts chruning. No rain, no hail, nothing, only windy and an erie feeling. When the tornado sirens go off and a tornado watch came into effect was when I decided to floor it. I got up to about 110/115 mph and held it for about 15 minutes until I deemed it was safer, and resumed at 90 ish mph.
A friend of mine, who lived in St. Louis (a BMW driver btw), who I was hanging with at the fair had to pull over and seek refuge inside some sort of retirement home. :rofl:

So that is the story of how I managed to not get myself killed and drive my BMW at triple digit speeds at the same time.

I do not recommend twister chasing.

But I hope ya'll in the DC area are ok

ok, so I was watching the Belmont and the weather guy interrupts saying there is a "very large and dangerous" (his words) tornado on the ground 40 miles from me in the SE Chicago 'Burbs...yah so I hope any members south of the city are ok!

Tornado's a dime a dozen around here...We're pretty much used to it..the other day (in may) the sirens were going off and my dad and i decide to get something to eat. We eat, and when we leave the sirens are still going off. I go home park the car outside and act like nothing happened. The only time i go into the basement is when i actually see the tornado in the sky...It may sound crazy to some of you but we get those tornado warnings so often around here it doesn't really give us the jitters...

Jeez, I sleep downstairs when there's a tornado watch!

There was one last year, but I think it was up in the county. Might have pissed off a moose or two, but otherwise, a tree that falls in the forest...

Yeah we had 5 or 6 touchdown in western KS on thursday and 1 touched down a few miles north of where i live. But I was just watching the NBA Finals in the living room. The freaking local weather guy kept interupting the game!!

It was raining really hard where I was (north east cook county) and I drove up into Lake County for dinner and it was pretty windy. Now, it's just some pretty cool lightning over the lake....

central oklahoma is one constant tornado

I totally agree with you - when I lived in Wichita (i have to look at that spelling all the time "Witchita" geezzz) the sirens were going off all the time. When I moved here in Philly, I was like tornados here? I find out it's for the emergency crews to report to the firestation. I like Hurricanes better because I can actually find out were the best surfing is going to take place...
