A Tribute In Honor Of George W Bush
SAN FRANCISCO -- A small group of San Franciscans want to give President George W. Bush a lasting honor when he leaves office next January. But others consider it a downright insult.
The group calling itself the "Presidential Memorial Commission of San Francisco" want to change the name of the Oceanside Water Pollution Control Plant to the George W. Bush Sewage Plant. Members are gathering signatures to get the name change on the November ballot. They say they already have more than enough. One member who goes by the name T. Wayne Pickering said it is a metaphor. "A sewage plan is responsible for cleaning up the mess," Pickering said. "And in a certain way, that's what we, San Francisco and the rest of the country, will be doing for some time after he leaves office." The San Francisco Republican Party is not amused. One Republican called the proposed ballot measure an abuse of the system and "loony bin direct democracy." Sewage plant operators have a different perspective. They say those who believe the president has a negative record on the environment should find another facility, because the plant works well to protect the environment. |
I wouldn't be shocked if SanFran passes that. What they should be concerned about it their 3 strike policy that has overcrowded their prisons..but hey, that is just me talking. If they'd like the vast majority of their state tax money to go towards jailing inmates...good for them :)

A deserving person deserves the honor......

Shouldn't they rename a weapons development site or defense contractor? That is much more accurate

Nope. You guys are missing the point.
I believe they mean GW has done a crappy job while in office so what better way to remind us all of his fine record of leadership Quote:
