Heller v DC was a good first step. Now on to San Fran to have a case show the 2A applies to states, via the 4A. The NRA and others have already filed suit against the SF Housing Authority that ban guns by people in "public housing"; ie, making honest private citizens unarmed potential victims of the criminals rampant in those communities.

Did you hear the mayor of Chicago? He's flaming mad and talking all kinds of nonsense.

“This is a very frightening decision for America. …Does this lead to everyone having a gun in our society? If they think that’s the answer, then they’re greatly mistaken. Then, why don’t we do away with the court system and go back to the Old West? You have a gun and I have a gun and we’ll settle in the streets,” Daley told reporters at Navy Pier.

He also went on about how now everyone is going to have an Uzi or AK-47 in their homes and wished everyone luck.

If all honest people were unwilling to be victims, criminals would be much less likely to be able to feed on whomever and wherever they choose.

 every time someone makes the "Old West" analogy I just laugh. I guess they spend a lot of time on the Western channels "learning" about history.

Isn't murder already against the law, so the people killing and robbing (another thing against the law) have already broken a law. So how would more LAWS solve the problem?

Quick questions for all the people that say "ban guns, save lives", do we ban cars to stop vehicular homicide?? I've read at least 10 stories this year from my area (within 40 miles of my house) of people being killed in car accidents. No one runs around blaming the car company and saying get cars off the road.

Fact, prior to DC gun ban 139 murders in the district, post DC gun ban 146.

You could ban guns tomorrow, pass a national law forbidding citizens to have a fire arm and I guarantee you would have MORE not LESS gun related incidents. Guns are not the problem, your society is.

My AR-15 with a 30 round clip and laser is right next to my bed. If anyone breaks into my home they will regret that I have an assault weapon with which I will blow them away! I will then take pictures of who I shot with my assault weapon next to their body and post it on myspace. That would then deter others from attempting the same thing. Living in a small town my entire community knows I have a .50 cal sniper rifle, assault weapons and 20 other guns. Because everyone knows this the chances of someone attempting to break into my home are slim to none. My assault weapons are a deterrent and it works!

I just read this article that puts a different perspective on things. I'm not minimizing suicide but I believe there is a difference between self-inflicted gunshot deaths versus murders. Part of the fear campaign is making people believe that all handgun deaths are the result of crime/murder/gangs/etc.

It is another argument against guns that they are used in so many suicides and it is indeed the most effective way but suicides are very different than homicides.
