Tomato outbreak NOT tomatoes???
Reading the paper this morning, yes, the same one I am bitching about in the other thread, and came across an article that shocked me. US health dep. are now saying it may not be tomatoes causing the salmonella. They have yet to actually find an infected tomato, and now believe it may be either cilantro or jalapeno... awesome considering I cook with those ingredients at least twice a week.

CDC@work, . I realize the tracking to source is very, very difficult, but ... I'm with you: lots of cilantro on my 5 post dindin salads a week and 'penos once a week. Can hardly wait for the symptoms to set in. Maybe it's Al-Qaeda, or El CayDuh, as Dubya pronounces it... |

The terrorism thing I dont think is the case here, but not to be laughed at. I read a book called Germ, the history of biological terrorism (or a similar title) and in the 70's I believe there was a large cult in the Pacific northwest that had a population very similar to that of the town. The small town only had one restaurant open for dinner, and it had a salad bar. To win the local election the cult tainted the salad bar with e.coli and when the competitor came to visit the cult's property a few days before the election they tainted his water as well. It nearly worked. The majority of the town besides the cult were either hospitalized or too sick to vote on the election day and the cult nearly won the election. I believe it was mayoral, but not sure. |

GET OUT!!!!!!! Bunch o' crazies!!!! I think if terrorists wanted to target us via our crops, they would do it with something a bit more important than tomatoes, jalapenos and cilantro! |
