Hancock

It was alright. It started out pretty humorous but then they did a real quick transition into tragic love story.........I expected better and it was just ok.
Not one of Will Smith's better movies,

PersonaNonGrata 07-02-2008 12:08 PM

Great. A bunch of guys from work want to go to see it tonight. Now I'm undecided about going. Plus, Will Smith is a Scientologist. I might get brainwashed.

Quicksilver 07-02-2008 12:14 PM

No he isn't

I am Legend was a great movie...

That's too bad about Hancock.

Quicksilver 07-02-2008 05:39 PM

Haven't seen it yet but i'm not looking forward to anything more than entertainment.

I was a big fan of Will Smith's until this dribble spewed forth:

LAUER: Has he called on you and are, are you supporting Barack Obama 'cause you would've supported anybody the Democrats put forward or that you just think he's the man?

SMITH: You know I just, I just came back from Moscow, Berlin, London and Paris and it's the first, I've been there quite a few times in the past five to 10 years. And it just hasn't been a good thing to be American. And this is the first time, since Barack has gotten the nomination, that it, it was a good thing.

Quicksilver 07-02-2008 07:15 PM

My question would be why did he make this comment?

Still wanna see Hancock!

Just got home from boy's night at the movies. We liked it but if you look too hard you find flaws. Had a few good laughs. Jason Bateman was good. (I didn't even know he was in it.) Overall, an entertaining bit of brain candy.

Quicksilver 07-03-2008 02:14 AM

That's exactly what i meant when i said "i'm not looking forward to anything more than entertainment."

What someone's religion or politics is, has nothing to do with the quality of films they appear in.

We all love movies that Tom Cruise is in and John Travolta and lots of other Scientologists...

Let's remember, everyone is entitled to a private life regardless of what we think of it.

I'm just afraid of the spaceship that is coming. :D

I don't give a crap about a movie star's religion just as don't give a crap about their damn political endorsements, and wish they'd shut up about that too. They're entertainers and are for our amusement. They get paid very well to do it and ultimately they will be judged not on their religion or politics but on the quality of their work. Catholics, Jews, Protestants have all made some real stinky movies.

Quicksilver 07-04-2008 09:38 PM

I finally saw the movie and I'm still trying to figure out where the critics wanted this movie to go.They fussed about it's direction but didn't have a clue where it should have gone. "Convoluted"? Not IMHO

On the face of it i had no trouble getting the plot and understanding the transition. All in all it was not academy award material just entertainment. But then again I'm no critic.

X5Flyboy 07-05-2008 08:34 AM

Will be seeing it today. What they believe or think doesn't bother me (this IS America), just as long as they don't preach to me in the middle of a movie or concert, ala Barbara Streisand. I'm here for the entertainment.

Ajogu 07-11-2008 12:36 PM

I liked it. "Call me an a$$hole one more time":bustingup

Well, if the spaceship does come, I sure don't want to be stuck in coach class. Could you imagine the leg room for an intergallactic commute..

And they better have some good movies on the flight..

(Do you think they will have any Tang on the space ship? I like Tang :) )

Tang is good. The Scientologists have done well in stockpiling Tang, especially the famous kind. :D
