This is good news! Americans will finally realise that Toyota's reputation for build quality has gone down the drain, and stop buying Toyotas based solely on their past reputation.

News Headlines in 2011:

"Prius owner burns to death today as batteries explode in car.."
"Prius recalled for shorting out when it rains or car is being washed.."
"Toyota to recall Prius as combustion engine does not engage, owners complain about being limited to 36.5 mph..but great fuel economy!"
"Owner dies of carbon-monoxide poisioning when trying to power his house of a Prius during a power outage."

Don't forget:

"Prius recalled for defective solar panels installed improperly. Defect may cause Air conditioning to fail."

And: oil drops to $30/bbl, and in other news, and local toyota dealer condemned as an environmental hazard, more at 11...

Why is so cool to knock this car?

The factory in the US means more US jobs and more high mpg cars; a win/win for the USA.

Because the Prius is made in order to satisfy ecomentalist badgewhores who care about reducing petrol consumption, while ignoring the "big picture" that the processes used to build this car do more environmental damage than if they bought a gas hog in the first place.
