2nd time I've ever heard that term, the first was in Boiler Room. Although I'd have to say, I've heard far worse in hip-hop so sadly I'm not too shocked the phrase is still around.

Of course not. That would be rude and tasteless.

I'm not here to be the PC police, just a suggestion that next time, you try to find a new way to express your point.

I'm sure for example, had you said, "he didn't pay retail for those jewels, he "jewed" them down.. You also would ruffle some feathers.

I understand completely, although I don't think your example reflects the manner in which my remark was made in.

I didn't find it's use offensive here- in fact I thought it entirely accurate and appropriate. However the term was commonly used in the South when I was growing up- as a derisive term for anyone who spent money frivolously.

But now that the "niggaz" call themselves "niggers" and call women "ho's" and "bitches" it makes you wonder- if you can't respect yourselves and others with your language how can you expect others too?

Know thyself... Then what others may think of you based on skin color, sex, age, height, number of limbs, etc., will not affect you. Peace!

People can choose to call themselves whatever they choose but most people realize that a forum like this is the public.

Having that knowledge (IMHO) means that intelligent people should exercise prudence and good judgement regarding the use of language especially if the choice of words are viewed as racially offensive.

Bottom line the language used (and we do know what I'm talking about) is not only offensive and unkind but frankly is unnecessary and no excuse for using it will give doing so credibility.
