Back from Hilton Head
Back from beautiful Hilton Head Island. For those who do not know, HHI is a fancy schmancy barrier island off the coast of southern South Carolina. It's between Charleston, SC and Savannah, GA (though closer to Savannah). It is approximately 260 miles from Valencia/Ciardi abode, which we (the X5 and I) covered in three hours flat! :D
It still amazes me how well and easily this car "cruises" at 90-95 MPH -- which, if you do some quick math is pretty much what I was doing (traffic-permitting) to cover that distance in three hours. Now, she badly needs a bath. Anyway, if anyone is ever down in this area, I recommend you visit HHI. It's pricey, but worth it. No crowds, great eating, wonderful beaches, and some amazing resorts. Juan |
I am actually planning a trip to Savannah later this year. Hilton Head island is on my list:)

I love HHI although I havent been in about 2 years. For those who havent been, it is also know as a golfers paradise. If you are not a golfer, there is still plenty to do there.

I agree. HH is a great little place. The weather this weekend in HH was absolutely spectacular considering a hurricane right off the coast. You are right, cruising at 90-95 in the X5 is smooth and rock solid. Makes the vacation last all the way until you pull in your driveway.

Love SC, but can't stand the heat and humidity from May-Aug - Shot my first eagle on HHI ... I can't believe it's been over 30 yrs ago! - 35th college reunion next year in Charleston - Seems I have more relatives in SC than NJ now, everyone moves and ends up down there - How was the golfing? - I imagine there are alot more courses now then when I was last there.

I did not golf. I gave up golf two years ago -- was not good for my blood pressure -- and took up tennis again. The CEO and I went there on a "propecting mission" (looking at "Vacation Clubs" AKA time shares).
The weather WAS gorgeous, though, AND the island was pretty much empty. Kids are back at school and a hurricane hanging around the area surely had a lot to do with it. Great place. Juan |
Like I said, I love it down there  - Am looking for a townhouse in the Charleston/Summerville area to use for visits and to store my van on the east coast - Starting to tire of the cross country driving twice (sometimes 3x ) a year - Of course now that I have my X5, I may have to sell the van and buy another X5 for the east coast driving :D - My sister lives in Hollywood (SC) and stores a car for a friend in Canada for $1 a day - She told me since I'm family, she will only charge me $2 a day  :bustingup  - Think I'll find my own place where other friends/relatives can use when I'm not in town. :)
