Installed Chrome last night and so far I like it, especially on here bc it has Spell Check which IE didn't have.

tried it...while i liked the speed, i didn't like how there weren't that many options. for instance, you couldn't keep your browser in incognito mode every time you opened it; you have to go into the page menu and select it. you also have to delete your history everyday; you can't set the save history time to zero like you can with IE. i like to view a lot of porn, but i don't like to leave a trail of the sites i've gone to as it could get me in trouble with the wifey ;) also, the website i use for work has a pop up that opens in another window as opposed to opening a tab, which can be annoying because if i click a link on the pop up, it opens a tab in the first window (hope that makes sense). oh and i'm still using IE6...IE7 slowed my comp to a crawl.

EDIT: i also have a scroll feature on my touchpad mouse, but with Chrome, it scrolls all the way up or all the way down...it doesn't stop anywhere in the middle. my back/forward feature on the mouth doesn't work with Chrome either.

I won't jump on the Chrome bandwagon just yet :yikes:

And now, here comes the security issues with Chrome:

Google Chrome Browser URL Handler Crash
------------------------------------------------------------------------

SUMMARY

An issue exists in how chrome behaves with undefined-handlers in
chrome.dll version 0.2.149.27. A crash can result without user
interaction. When a user is made to visit a malicious link, which has an
undefined handler followed by a 'special' character, the chrome crashes
with a Google Chrome message window "Whoa! Google Chrome has crashed.
Restart now?". It crashes on "int 3" at 0x01002FF3 as an exception/trap,
followed by "POP EBP" instruction when pointed out by the EIP register
at 0x01002FF4.

DETAILS

Vulnerable Systems:
* Google Chrome Browser version 0.2.149.27

automatically downloaded to the user's computer without any user prompt.

many have tried, but you still can't top firefox on mac... or on pc for that fact.

brian5 09-03-2008 10:13 PM

I've tried Google Chrome on PC but it doesn't look that exciting. It's faster than Firefox (my preferred) and IE.

I currently use Firefox with a number of add-ons that I cannot do without now. Until Chrome has those, I won't stop using Firefox.

I tried Chrome with some sites that won't work with Firefox (as they require IE). It actually worked fine on one but did badly on two others. So Chrome won't replace the times that I need to use IE now.

After 8 days of using Chrome (where has the time gone?!?), I'm really liking it.

It so fast :zoom: that I have effectively retired Firefox -- even with all the add-ins that Firefox has and I thought I couldn't live without! Chrome is so fast that I can even put up with the ads.

A couple of days ago, Chrome was updated and the Internet Explorer capability is MUCH improved. So I am not using IE for those few websites that Firefox cannot handle any more.

Only website that I'm seeing issues on, and I've reported to Google through their easy site reporting mechanism, is Adobe.com. Not sure if that's because Adobe is using Flash, Flex or some other product/technology to build their pages.

Hope that you Mac guys get to try this browser soon. I know that Safari is OK on Mac but it is as slow as molasses on Windows. Maybe Chrome will translate well to the Mac too :dunno:

I just dumpted Chrome b/c I would run into unsupported features, mostly multimedia streaming. I'll try again in 6 months.

You might be interested to know that Chrome has been updated (again). I've found that it works with video sites that it didn't work with before. Not saying all the problems are resolved but there's definitely improvements in that area...
