So I'm beginning the process of applying the oils
Because I'm self-taught and I'm working on my first painted portrait of my son I've been cruising the internet for tips and tricks to help me along.
I came across this and was inspired and amazed. Time lapsed portrait from nothing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oo-YWLSmvVM |
Am I the only drunk m-fer on this site at 5:00 am? Looks like you're on the right path to an awesome portrait of your son!

One thing I can tell you is inspiration cannot be scheduled. Typically, an artists best work is done after 1am through the morning. Get the first one down in one shot, starting in the afternoon.(you will hate it) :( Then riding that wave, stay up through the night re-doing the original painting, working off your inpsiration and vision of what you were expecting. Hopefully your mechanics will support your eye. :genius: That's happened a few times for me and the results were always good. I always enjoyed getting out the 4 inch house brush and washing a canvas red with anger before restarting. :cheer: |
