You say that like it's some kind of conspiracy theory. The camps are well documented. The "conspiracy theories" have to do with what their purpose is. There are indeed dozens of these "camps" or facilities throughout the country, most of which were built during Bush's time in office. "Officially" they are to house people in emergency situations like the 9/11 attacks, or natural disasters such as Hurricaine Katrina.
Much of the controversy comes from what they look like, which is like big prisons. They are surrounded by fences, with barbed wire, and many of them have military-type security. FEMA's answer to that is that the security is to keep people out, not to imprison people in the future or to hide some secret agenda.
It all comes down to who and what you believe. ;) |
