A sad day

Today I have sold my X5 I am very sad as I really did like that car but I am afraid due to presant climate and our Cr*P Government try to get 4x4 off the road I have caved in, and sold it.

The value of these cars here in the UK are in free fall it has nearly cost me a £1 a mile in depreciation alone and the only saving grace was that my cousin works in a car showroom and got very good money for it.

Anyway I wanted to say thank you to all you guys and girls for your help with projects and infomation, and what a genuine nice bunch of people you are,and to all of you who made me feel welcome at west fest 2 years ago I hope I still hold the record for the longest distance travel to a meet.

I will post a few items I have left for sale in sales section I know will be to far for most of you,but maybe some UK members might want them.

Thanks again and keep up the good work.

Sorry to hear that, Ian. Glad you at least sold it for a good price!

cmyX6go 10-30-2008 05:08 PM

Yes Ian, you still hold the record. I'm thinking it will be a hard record to break. Don't be a stranger.

bozo 10-30-2008 05:43 PM

Wow...I know how you feel mate...I sold mine right before I left:( ...Gordon and the rest of those tw*ts were scaring me half to death with the road tax threats. Has it changed at all? They were talking about £1000 a year by 2010 for 4x4's, increasing the congestion charge by 30%, and all the rest. I thought right, thats it. Did you even list it on the trader at all? The UK models are actually selling well on the continent. There's a chap in Surrey that buys them for pretty good money and sends them to Slovenia, Romania, etc...Not sure why the market there is so good. I actually had a bloke fly in to Stansted from Dublin and pulled in my driveway with £24,700 in £20 notes...I didn't ask any questions, and made him go to the bank with me to deposit the cash. I never felt so nervous in my life! :nervous: :whew:

Hopefully things change over there and you can get back into one soon...I know I miss mine every day...Not as much as I do a cold pint! :bawling:

Ian
Sad to see your X is gonzo, but don't be a damn "stay away"...
It was very good to meet you at WestFest and kudos
again for coming all that way to hang with The Gang!
Best Regards and Good Luck,
mD & V

I will being keeping a eye on you guys and girls LOL

I think you sold at the right time Bozzo ! The congestion charge did not come in but £400 + year road tax is coming it is crazy !

I really want to come back to the states so maybe another tie up with a meet how am i going to explain that one dont even have a X5 anymore LOL

It looks like if I stay in my presant job I will get a 320d Coupe M Sport or if cant find one I like will get A4 Cab S line but I will post pics I have a feeling that the BMW will go down better. I dont think you guys get M sports there so might be nice for you to see.

£400 for road tax???:yikes: :yikes: I remember when it was around £150 a year (for my little Mazda 323). Seems lika a lot has changed since 2000.

Still, I'd give my left lung to move back to the UK.:( I sure miss those pubs over there...

I have a new BMW to play with now I thought I would share with yous guys and girls.

It is a 330d M Sport Coupe 07

This is not the best picture took it quickly with camera phone

bozo 12-01-2008 06:20 PM

That's well nice...And not nearly as dear to own as the X I presume...

PersonaNonGrata 12-01-2008 08:52 PM

That is awesome Ian! Beautiful new car for sure. I think your X5 will be nothing but a fond memory soon enough.

Hope all is well. Drop me a line some time.

X5 Sport 12-02-2008 07:09 PM

Thanks for the coments the X will be remembered had some good times with it met a great bunch of people ! Gave me the bug for modding things!!

The trouble was it was dropping like a log in value and the fuel bill was getting a bit expensive as I have nearly a 50 mile round trip to work and at 28- 30 mpg X5 was good for it size but not good enough + the road tax thing too.

The new car has the same heart as the the old X5 they share the same engine but been upgraded so I now have 231bhp :-) So I get 0-62 in 6.7 155 MPH and nearly 40 MPG :-)

I know you guys like pictures so I will take some soon because I dont think you guys get M Sports there Might be interesting for you to see.

bozo 12-02-2008 07:46 PM

Definitely sounds like you made the right choice. 50 miles one way?! :yikes:

Cant wait to see more pics!

Hi All,

Here is a slightly better picure of my new car I must say I am loving it having fun in it but I do miss the 20inch wheels of the X5 the wheels on this look like bicycle wheels in copaired to the 315 on rear of X5

P.S Some twat scraped the rear bumper :banghead:Scrath is only about a inch but that is not the point.

E61Silver 12-13-2008 09:33 PM

Looks like a real nice ride.

PersonaNonGrata 12-15-2008 03:19 AM

Looking good! Sorry to hear about the bumper scratch. I suppose it's better than if you'd done it yourself. I always feel worse when it was my own dumb mistake.
