Any space buffs?

Any one else out there a space buff like me?

The new 3D IMAX movie about the Apollo moon landings, produced by Tom Hanks (he also produced the HBO series From the Earth to the Moon) opens Sept. 23rd. I'm definitely going on the weekend, and I'll be wearing my '69 Omega Speedmaster moonwatch :D

I wonder if they'll be serving Tang? ;)

Have you gone to Space Camp? IMAX movies, role playing, crawling around in shuttle mock-ups, etc. It is a lot of fun. You could even say it was a blast. I went with my son on two different ones.

NASA is trying to develop a newer version of the Apollo capsule....sort of Apollo capsule on steroids.....hopefully we can get back to the moon by 2018 and eventually make it Mars.

We sent our son to space camp this past summer for a week. He had a blast. Good program. Now, THAT'S good government spending (though it's not free - it's still subsidized by the Uncle Sam, I believe.)

Not really. It obviously does get some support in some way via NASA, but it is a private enterprise. The Space Camp operation in Florida went bankrupt last year, because it was managed badly. I am not even sure it is still operational. We attended the original Space Camp in Huntsville, AL and it was very well done both times.

OK... somehow I thought NASA supported it a bit. Yes, the one in AL is the one where our son went.
