just put a mac filter on your router and only enable wireless cards that you trust. done. Encryption slows your connection down. Sure it's extra security, but do you really need it?

How much does it really slow it down? I'm downloading around 12-16 with WPA2 turned on.

On a fast connection it's negligible.

And if the connection is not a fast one
how much is the slowdown?

for wireless, and this is just my opinion, a slow connection is < 5Mb/s. How much overhead encryption puts on a connection is tough to say, it varies.
