Digital SLRs.

Anyone have a digital SLR? I got to use one for a day and absolutely loved it. I was thinking the Nikon D70s. Anyone have one and do you like it?

I have Canon Rebel

I have a Canon Digital Rebel for a little over a year now and absolutely love the quality and what I can do with it. You cannot go wrong with the Canon or Nikon line. I had three point and shoot over the past few years, and was never quite happy with them. The quality was fine, I just could not get use to the slower shutter response, and the DSLR's took care of that problem. Go for it!

if you do a search on canon on here you'll find a thread on dslr's from a few weeks back.

in short, with any SLR, film or digital, you're really buying into a lens system, because the bodies will change every 18-24 montsh, but lens changes are far far less frequent.

IMHO, stick with canon, the lens choices are more broad, but like the old Mac. vs. PC debate, canon and nikon are both great, it's up to personal choice.

check out www.dpreview.com, it's the digital photography equipment bible site. :)

I went with the Canon Rebel Xt. The Nikon recieved better reviews but the Canon was a good bit less expensive by the time all the Dell coupons were thrown in. 729 with the lense. I believe there are more lenses for the Canon as well...and it did not score much less than the Nikon. Both are excellent cameras so you wont go wrong either of them.

In my experience, Nikon has better lenses, but Canon's tend to be more user friendly. Take your pick.

Yes, I have the D70 (which is very close to the D70s). I like it a lot. I have always been a Nikon fan (2 SLRs, 5 point and shoot models, 1 DSLR), though my Nikon glass isn't getting used on the D70 as the kit lens is very good IMO.

It is a lot like the Apple/IBM debate, discussing Canon vs Nikon.

As others have commented, both Canon and Nikon are making some very good cameras. Hold each and try them out, they do tend to feel different. Pick the one you like the feel of if you don't have any great lens collection to sway the decision one way or the other.

I have the D70, best camera i have ever owned, highly recomend it, plus lenses are superior to Canon.

I have the Rebel XT. My sister has the D70. You'll get an AWESOME camera whichever way you go. The Canon is a good deal lighter than the Nikon fwiw.
