iPod Integration

Hello X5ers!

I'm thinking the 3 Series maybe my next ride - waiting to see the facelifted one in person soon here - so I have a question about iPod integration.

The only integration I used before with a BMW, was with the E53 X5 (without NAV) and it was made by Dension, as many other integrations it emulate 6 CDs from 5 iPod playlists and the 6th one you can use it to browse iPod library, but really using the browse playlist was pain, cause I can only begin with the first Artist then hit next everytime until I choose an Artist then I need to do the same about choosing an Album, so practically when it will start to play I'm already arrived or had an accident  there was no wheel to browse easily.

Yesterday anyway, I drove a new Hyundai Azera (Grandeur) with a friend and to be honest I liked the iPod integration that comes with this car!, it's a really smart one with USB/AUX/iPod so u can use it as a usual AUX in and u can plug any USB flash drive or connect the iPod.

When you connect the iPod, you can fully control it by the knob of the stereo system it works exactly as the iPod Click Wheel allowing to browse playlists, artists, albums and genres easily and fast, moving from an artist to another just by a spin and sure the song info are fully displayed on the screen.

Is this possible on BMW? I saw the new iPod Integrtion that works with iDrive once, but never tested it...does it work the same smooth way and shows songs info? also I'm thinking not to get iDrive, so is there a possible way with normal BMW CD/Radio system?

Here you see the Hyundai connector I was talking about, it's also avaliable with Hyundai Genesis:

Absolutely possible, you can use either the BMW or mObridge iPod kits for your e70 X5:

BMW - iPod Integration Kit for e70 X5

mObridge - iPod integration kit for e70 X5
http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...oducts_id=1650

The mObridge is the superior of the two and firmware upgradeable as new features are introduced.

That's cool, but I'm planning to have the new 3 Series, does it work? and is there away in case I don't get the iDrive?

Kits work with and without iDrive.

The Professional radios (non-iDrive) are actually a bit faster in browsing.

That's really great! cause really browsing with the Dension was hard, so I think I will not get iDrive now

which one you recomend then? BMW or mObridge? the second one is updateable but is there anything else?

The mObridge kit by far, this is considerably faster than the BMW kits, firmware upgradeable and compatible with current model iPods/iPhone.
