MacBook Issue
 

Hello!

I have a MacBook I bought about 6 months ago. I love it BUT

lately my gmail has not been working right, same goes for G Maps.

G maps acts like I am pulling an image and won't get out of it and freezes all the time, I've never had this issue before.

GMail freezes constantly, won't reload emails or open anything but the last sent email. I also can't G-chat etc.

The weird thing is when I restart my computer and/or reload my browser it works fine.

Any ideas?

Disconnect all usb/ and or other drives.
Connect your power cord

Go to applications/utilities/click on disk utility.app.
At the top of the open window select your hard drive
Click repair disc permissions. This will take a few minutes.
Restart you computer. See if this helps.

Get a PC that runs Vista, just kidding.

Do you use Safari or FF, you might try accessing GMail using the other web browser?

Hey Ryan, how much memory do you have in your MacBook? What programs are you running concurrently while all of this is happening? It might be a good idea to start keeping an eye on your RAM usage (you don't want page outs btw). If you don't already use a widget to manage your resources, try it :). My favorite is iStat nano. If your Gmail issue continues after Barry's advice, I would delete the acct. and re-add it.

I use Safari and have 4GB of memory so I can't figure it out because every other webpage works fine except Google's apps.

I downloaded IStat and here is the CPU/Memory/Disc Information:

CPU: User 2%, Nice 0%, System 2%, Idle 97%
Memory: Active 230mb, Inactive 22mb, Used 758mb, Free 3.23GB, Swap 64mb, Wired 532mb, it shows approx 1/4 current usage
Disc Information: Approx 44gb free between my 2 Discs

You find it ok? :D
Maybe it's a temporary Google thing. Certainly not a memory issue.

Did you look for an update for the google app?

That is the thing, I don't use the app just gmail.com and google maps on google.com

It works perfect on the Windows XP side of my MacBook so it must be a Mac thing. :confused:

I find gmail is faster with FF

Try loading Firefox on your Mac side to see if it is a Safari specific issue.
