Trading X5 For Navigator??

Hey everyone! I have a quick question for the experts here, I am looking to trade in my 00 BMW X5 for the 05 NAVIGATOR.. What should I be looking for in this particular year? Any recalls I should be aware of before I buy? Are there any trouble spots that need attention? What to look for when driving this particular model? Any insight would be great! Thanks

Recall No. 05S28. It is for the speed control deactivation switch (cruise control switch located in the engine compartment near or on the master cylinder). Just make sure this vehicle is not part of the recall population. I haven't ran across too many Navis that do, but a ton of F-150's and Expeditions that are. The switch is hot (energized) at all times with a 12v current even when the engine is turned off. The switch has the propensity to overheat and catch fire causing catastrophic damage to the vehicle and surrounding structures. Trust me on this. Just make sure that the recall repair has been performed before purchasing.

Didn't they fix that with the 2003 redesign?

Apparently so, but the recall population continues to expand. Wouldn't hurt to double-check.

Both. For the Nav's, the last year for this particular recall is 2002 as BB stated earlier. Still, if the vehicle has a SCDS manufactured by Texas Instruments, get it checked out. If you purchase it from a Ford, Lincoln, Mercury dealership they can pull your VIN up on OASIS to check for any open recall campaigns for that vehicle.
