Just what I need...:rolleyes:
another couple hundred people to bs with. :rofl:

I looked at Twitter and realized a few things, for
my situ:

I have trouble posting in 140 characters or less.
I have just about all the friends I need/want.
I don't work: don't need any more "connections" or
networks.
Sometime in the near future an actual conversation
with someone, will be a faded memory.

I understand MD. But I am complete opposite, perhaps there are others like me ;)

I wasn't dissing it, Alex...I have actually looked at Twitter a few times,
but thought, "I need this like I need another 500 point drop in the Dow".

I can see its potential benefits for all you young bulls and bullettes, out
there in WorkLand! I was just poking...

Don't worry, mD. You're not the only one who has little or no use for social networking sites like MySpace, Facebook, etc. I hardly text, I don't twitter. Must be gettin' old since I used to be be the uber geek and I don't see the point to MySpace, Facebook and Twittering :p:

I did order a Kindle 2 :) I'm interested to see whether it will work well for me. I don't travel that much anymore but I spend too much time in front of my 24" LCD and 52" TV in my office so eInk may be better for reading books, blogs, the Financial Times and The New Yorker.

A neighbor, who still travels quite a bit, has a Kindle version 1, which
I have used briefly. Not quite the same as a book-in-hand, but not bad.
If I was still doing 150+ nights/yr out on the road, I would get one.

The New Yorker?! We may be the only 2 on here that read the
mag! The current ed. has some fine essays on, and by, Updike. And,
a good essay on the FLA real estate kaboom...

Definite purchase for a road warrior who likes to read. That's not me but I'm enough of a geek to drop $400 for the unit plus the Patagonia cover. I never liked reading print newspapers and I think it will be good for the FT compared to reading it online. I like the new form factor... Apple like in its sleekness :thumbup:

TNY is my favorite magazine. I'm not sure that the Kindle edition will replace the paper one for me: There are fewer cartoons and not all of the content. The cartoon contest and letters, for example. The former can be found on their web site. It will be an interesting decision when my print subscription comes up for renewal in the summer.

Have to agree with MD. Twitter is not for everyone. It is not like text messaging which has universal appeal.The Kindel is a great product and serves the traveler well. You can carry as many books as you want in a single device.
