Japanese cell phone technology is way ahead of ours. Unfortunately, because they use a different system than ours, their phones have never been compatible with our system, and so we don't import them here. Most of our phones are made in Korea or Taiwan. But their phones have been coming with WVGA screens, 8 MP cameras, etc. The iPhone will not wow them the same way it does Americans.

This is how they compare iPhone in Japan. As you can see its as worthless as a stone for the most part, therefore its free.
