You're doing what??!?!

I'm planning on trading in my X5 for something like a Volkswagon Jetta. I can't mentally justify spending more then $5k on another vehicle when there is sooo much opportunity coming up (both local and in the markets).

It's unbelievable I am going to a non-luxury vehicle but then again, there's not many luxury vehicles around where I am.

'Fairly' decent fuel consumption, drives rather well 'zoom zoom'.

I actually don't think the Mazda 3 is a bad car at all. I spent a few weeks in a the older generation as a rental a while back. It drove pretty well. My only real complaint would be that the engine felt buzzy on the highway, but overall it was not bad. I have not driven the new model yet, but I would imagine it is better in every way. It seems to get pretty good ratings.

The Jetta isn't bad either.

I spent some time in a Mazda 6 rental as well and I will say that that was the best rental car I have had in a long time. It had decent power and felt pretty sporty.

I love my 2009 Jetta. I selected the SE model (Sunroof, Heated Seats, Leatherette, Sirius/6 cd change/upgraded stereo system)

The vehicle drives great, gets 28.5 combined mpg (90% highway), boasts extremely good seats (both include power lumber and the drivers has a power seat back, a superb sound system and great looks.

I couldn't be happier with my decision. I would recommend the Jetta 100%.

The funny thing about the Jetta is how expensive it feels for me. From the metallic paint (beautiful) to the fit in finish and soft touch materials on the interior it's really great. The 6 speed auto tranny has a Sport Mode and manual shifter. It's very peppy and downright fun to drive.
