Yes, the videos must be converted to a format the player supports. There is a software included with it for that. It's very simple to use.

As far as DRM goes, they will be releasing a firmware update VERY soon to support almost all the services. The player plays itunes files as well.

$364.99 at ecost.com :thumbup: for great prices. I think they have it in stock. It says to call them, but that's what it said for mine too; it shipped out the same day.

i called, they expect to have them in stock 10/25. I can't wait, i've been holding off until they re-realeased the 60.

Did your 30 come with the remote or did you have to buy it separately?

Wow, 10/25 isn't far off. It didn't come with a remote or case. I personally don't want the remote; it justs adds more bulk like any inline remote does. I'm going to wait a month or two and get some better earphones, maybe Shure e3c's or Etymotic ER-6i's. By waiting, I'll be able to appreciate the upgrade more :) .

It supports ALL formats. You have to convert any video that you want to use using the software they provide. So, I suppose it is proprietary, but it's damn simple and quick.

The new ipod only supports h.264 and mpeg4 period. Plus, you can't rewind and fast forward video with the ipod.

I forgot to mention ealier that this can also act as a host to other devices by allowing other devices to plugnplay with it and transfer data. And, you can record into it from any audio source using line-in.

I do not think you have the aux input. Did your X5 come with the in-dash CD player or cassette player? If it came with the cassette player a cassette adaptor is a very valid solution for connecting an mp3 player. I installed one in my X5. I managed to pass the audio wire behind the radio, inside the central column and up to the central arm rest where I have my mp3 player. There is no visible wire and the sound is great, as good as from a CD I would say. You have to make sure that you pick the right cassette adaptor though since some have noisy wheels

It plays video like the ipod, but then it does voice recording, line in recording, usb host, fm tuner! :) , all this built-in. Those are just the main extras. I got it at ecost.com for $275 (30gb). There are also 20gb and 60gb available. Of each hd capacity, there is also an X5L that has a battery life of 35hrs; it's 4mm thicker and costs a little more.

To those of you who are looking at the ipod or anything else, look at the iAudio x5 and you won't regret it.

hey Vin...how do you like your X5 so far, the iaudio X5 that is, after playing around with it for a couple of weeks? If I get the :thumbup: from you, I will get the 60gb once they become available in the next few days. It is really a nice device with all the features that I wanted (although, I wish it had a bigger screen placed horizontally across the device...like the Archos AV400 or AV500). But then again, it doesn't have the price tag of the Archos :)
