Who remembers the 80s music?

So, we were talking about 80s music videos? MTV when it was Music TV all the time!

Well - we found this site: 80's Music Videos:thumbup:

Remember - Journey, RATT, Motley Crue, Van Halen?

Krimson X 05-05-2009 12:03 PM

Reality shows killed the MTV VeeJay's!

Seeing my friends listening to and loving, Tears for fears, Aha, Don henley, Michael Jackson, Warrant, Thompson Twins, Culture club, Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, Morrissey, Twisted Sister, Ronnie James Dio, U2, all the bad hair rock as well.

Ohh god it was ALLLL so BAD!!!:( :( :( :( :(
;puke;

How can anyone look back upon that with fondness.

Some pretty good bands, individuals and songs, from the '80s.
Really hard to compartmentalize the decade, imo.

MTV vids were sort of at their zenith then, esp. in the early-mid '80s.

Some of my faves, just rolling off the top of my head:
Dire Straits, Springsteen, Clash, Joan Jett, VanHalen, Bryan Adams,
ZZTop, Stones; (lotsa hits), Lynard Skynard, Pink Floyd, SuperTramp,
some Yes...Jeezzzz, the more I think about that time, the more the
groups come back to my addled brain.

I was between Mrs1 and V: single in the early '80s and based in NYC;
if one could not have "fun" then, one was not breathing. :rofl: The '80s
tunes just added to the ambiance/bar room shenanigans...

blondboinsd 05-05-2009 11:03 PM

We didn't start the fire....

Gotta agree with MD re 'if one could not have "fun" then, one was not breathing. http://www.xoutpost.com/images/smilies/rofl.gif The '80s tunes just added to the ambiance/bar room shenanigans...' Ah, those were the days what with a pocket full of cash, no real committments apart from maybe a small car loan.

Don't forget to add Joe Cocker, The Doors, Eagles & Split Enz :thumbup:

Essam Khafagi 05-06-2009 02:50 AM

That's a great site with great old time vids :thumbup:
You brought me back a LOT of memories

The Big Easy 05-06-2009 05:35 AM

They've been running the 2007 Meat Loaf concert "Behind the Scenes" on MSG locally here in NJ, when he was promoting a tour for Bat outa Hell III. I tell you for a guy who is over 60, overweight, can barely walk because of bad knees and a bad back, he puts on a HELL of a show..All our old favorites from the prior albums including an interesting twist on a live version of "Paradise by the Dashboard Light". If you get a chance to catch it..and you're a fan of his music ..I think you'll enjoy it and appreciate the work that goes into those shows...

I had a 'Fro, wore madras coats or madras pants, polyester "dress" shirt from JC Pene', Beatle boots, wide azz ties, etc.
I have a snap shot of me in my 'Fro; I may have to try and scan it and
toss it up here. Hard to know what I was thinking...:D

Quicksilver 05-07-2009 04:49 PM

Yes, as in Afro...:p:
Nothing like sitting in the beauty parlor every 3 weeks with
spoolies in, reading People magazine. I was insane, I suspect...
Your BFAM

Quicksilver 05-07-2009 05:41 PM

Yes I know the feeling
but not with People mag.
More like Jet magazine.

You were insane? Hah!!!!

You and I both were a card
carrying members of a very large club.

I would be at the risk of becoming
a public laughing stock If I posted
my old pictures....:rofl::rofl:

asawadude 05-07-2009 06:11 PM

I don't want to remember the '80's. 2 divorces in the same decade. The music sucked. The clothing sucked. And the cars sucked.

To me the 80's were Sonny Crockett, skinny ties, suspenders (with buttons, not clip-ons), and snorting coke in the night clubs. I'm glad I made it out of the 80's alive.

The Beauty of the Week isn't as good as they were in the 80's either. Either that, or I was a just kid then and hot for anything in a bikini.
