Please BMW take it back off them:wow:

It's a car based suv what do you expect? I'm sure the Treg could drive out of it :P

Not sure what the big deal is. That's just the launch video of the new X5 Maritime edition. For obvious reasons they decided not to launch it on the Nurburgring or some lame South Carolina bridge, etc. Sucks they didn't include any interior shots showing the wood trim, etc. I would have loved to see some of the included options such as actual paddles (not to be confused with paddle shift).
On a side note, I'm amazed at how BMW engineers really let themselves go the past few years. Must be all that bratwurst. |
I remember seeing that video with a caption saying they parked it and the tide rose... the waves supposedly sank the tires deep just as if you stand in them and it buries your feet.
That being said I don't think I would drive/park my X5 that close to the water... |

Weasel what do you think could have been damaged by this water? Potential problems? |

It looks like the water on the otherside is higher than the door sill, in that case the space between the top & lower floor area's where alot of the computer modules sit will have 100mm on salt water in it. Expensive repair as all the pins on the modules will have corrosion on them within 24 hours even if the the modules themselves don't get water in them! Plus a new wiring loom, speakers etc. Salt water in a car here in Queensland is a statutory writeoff, the car is only allowed to be used for parts and can never be re-registered. |
wow I'm guessing the tide came in, thats really to bad.........for the car, those rims are garbage now, not that it matters, by the way water was shooting out the exhaust(or appears) it looks like the E70 Sea-Doo edition

just in case anyone finds themselves in a situation where you're stuck in sand, the first thing to do is let air out of the tires, probably down to about 25lbs first and see if you can get it rolling.
oh, and that's after the real first step of don't drive on the beach. About.com: http://www.4x4now.com/sfjun96.htm |
Good link Gresch, wish the guy in the video knew that. Although I don't think that would help much with low profile runflats that don't even drop with no air in them... He would have still fallen victom to driving where you shouldn't.
