No thanks. Way too big and heavy and it looks like a mini-van, IMO. Plus it got it's a$$ handed to it on the track by the X6 50i, Cayenne Turbo and ML 63.

AzNMpower32 06-24-2009 06:10 PM

That's more torque than God had when he created the world.

Heavy? Are you going to carry it or drive it?????

Racer.. Most highways here in the US - you cant pass 70mph!! unless you have a race track on your backyard and race around the track everyday...
:stickpoke

Just kiddin with you.:D

Yes, too heavy and big. The X6 50i is just about as fast in a straight line and does it with about 300 lb. ft. of torque less. Think about how big and heavy this thing must be. It reminds me of a Suburban I saw years ago with a boat engine in it.

The M's will smoke the hell out of this thing is straight line acceleration and the curves will be no contest. It is overkill to the max, IMO.

Is that much torque an impressive figure? For sure, but it doesn't translate into much acceleration wise due to the weight of the vehicle. Sub 5.5...no big deal anymore these days.

By the way, try driving 70 on the highways where I live. You would get run over in a matter of minutes.

Unless it's 5-0-clock traffic... then the whole Atlanta area slows to a crawl. I think the evening traffic is worse there that most cities. But they do fly around during most of the day!

 You are 100% right. 80-90 mph all day then a slow, angry crawl from 4-7 pm. Even earlier on Fridays.

Quicksilver 06-24-2009 11:02 PM

I would still "LOVE" to test drive that bad boy.

The automaker says the Q7 will run from zero to 60 mph in less than 5.5 seconds
and since it would never see the track if I owned it that speed coming out the gate would be fine with me.....

It would probably be a nice car for a long roadtrip.

I would more than likely never track our X5 either, but showing what a car is capable of on the track can translate to how it drives and feels when driving "spirited" on any roads.

SANguru 06-25-2009 01:37 AM

0 -60 doesn't matter... with 700+ ft/lb of torque, the freeway passing power will be what counts... the car will "feel" fast..

I am sure it will pull pretty well on the highway. Just be sure to wave at the X5 or X6 M that pass you when you "feel" like you are going fast. :stickpoke

You know that is going to be an ego killer the first time one of these pulls up next to an M or even an X6 50i and the owner thinks they are going to smoke it because they have all that power.

To me there is nothing that justifies the higher price of it, other than just the fact that it is a V12 turbo diesel. It is the heaviest and the most expensive one of the whole group, and has nothing else to justify it.

SANguru 06-25-2009 06:46 PM

well then.. i guess your ego is and will be bruised everyday with your 4.4 when honda accords, neons and other rice rockets pull away from you? LOL:rofl::stickpoke

true...

i have seen little civic's run low 12's on a quarter mile on the track(non turbo)...

 Not really. I was talking SUV vs. SUV and anyone who buys a Q7 with 700+ pounds of torque will be looking to show off what a titanic they have purchased when another SUV pulls up next to them. I would bet the farm on that one. That is the only reason to buy this overpriced beast over the regular version. Plus at the end of the day, how could my ego ever be brused...they are still in rice rockets.

Look, if you like having all that torque just to pass some people on the highway or tow a plane then buy one and enjoy it. I never liked the Q7 in the first place because it is a barge and I dont see how shoving all of this power under the hood and still coming up 4th in a performance shootout is anything to brag about. I am not a fan of that MB way of living where you over compensate for a bloated pig by shoving more power under the hood for straight line speed, but to each his own I guess. ;)

E61Silver 06-27-2009 06:18 AM

Why friend (gas v8) has one an likes it.

It just used it to tow a large boat and said that it tow's better than his navigator.

The diesel would make a great tow machine.

Absurd vehicle. If you want bragging rights on a diesel SUV, get an F650 conversion (available as a pickup or SUV, various wheelbases). Optional Caterpillar C7 7.2 litre diesel (inline 6). Only 300 hp, but it has 860 lbs feet of torque at 1440 rpm, running through an Allison 3000 or 3500. 2wd or 4wd. Would make a great tow vehicle. Owners are pulling out the C7s and putting C9s in as custom jobs. Not sure about the handling (lol) but if you want a large SUV with lots of torque, look no further. I see them in the (Caterpillar) truck shops every now and then. Yes, it is ridiculous. Just like the Audi.

I would actually much rather that than the Audi... seriously! But that's the cajun/coonass/redneck in me.

Something must seriously be wrong with you... you rather get this F650 instead of the Audi>>>>>....... You do have some serious redneck in you... :yikes:

No redneck here, but I would turn down the Audi and take the F650 to get the Cat power. I would probably rather have a crewcab pickup version than the SUV, and stick to 2wd. It could tow just about anything.

Quicksilver 06-28-2009 02:16 AM

I know someone who has one of those.
He races cars and there isn't a stitch
of whatever in him.... He said the police
stopped him to see if it was road legal.
Held him for about a hour while they
checked..........

Audi = for boys
F650 = for men - serious grunt, serious rear end, serious tranny.

dsm2925 06-28-2009 09:39 AM

up here in the Jersey and NYC you would be some "country ass hill billy"

i guess everyone sees it different depending where they live......

:bustingup Great quote.

Now that I think about it, I regularly see soccer moms driving Hummers around here, but I have never seen one in an F650 pickup or XUV. They seem to be reserved for construction company owners, trucking company owners, and so on. The other place you spot them is in the National Park campgrounds in the Canadian Rockies, pulling large fifth wheel trailers on their way to the Alaska Highway. You can overtax an F350 or Dodge Ram pretty easily in those conditions.

I have plenty Cajun in me! My mothers half the family were soy farmers in the countryside down here (some still are). That F650 is like the ultimate redneck limo!

Mind you before I worked at BMW all I owned was primarily Ford trucks and SUVs, mainly lifted 4x4 broncos. Hmmm... strange thought, What if I made the worlds first lifted X5!?! As awesome as that would be, I don't know if I could do it to her! :bustingup

vinuneuro 06-28-2009 06:13 PM

A 4.6is no less.

Anyone with photoshop want to lift my truck on 36" mudders?

I know it would look wicked (to me at least), but wouldn't appeal to most on here.

This is what I grew up around and love and miss... (not my truck in the pic, just random image from google)

dsm2925 06-29-2009 10:43 AM
