shredding's a pain, I use it for kindling!

I'm in shredding hell right now. Might have to go to Office Depot tomorrow and get a bigger shredder. Blah.

My parents paid me to do it for them when I was a kid and it didn't take long before I decided it wasn't worth the six bucks an hour. I want one of these

There are commercial shredding services available
in most areas. Google it for your town.

Thanks, I have to go through everything anyway, i'll be done tomorrow and then i just hvae to keep up with it each week.

7 years for legal documents and 12 months for period invoices, bills.

I scan most things that I can't download electronically. I have stopped receiving bills in the mail. I look them up online, download them to a share drive on my laptop and forget about it. Repair records are usually scanned in and they stay in a folder for a year. After that they are shredded. I used to have boxes of paper at a time. Medical bills are also available online.

Might I suggest you look into a scanner and a software called DymoFile. www.dymofile.com

This setup (with a $350 Kodak scanner) has pretty much eliminated the need for a file cabinet in my home office. It's a bear if you have years of stuff to scan, but going forward, it's nice and simple!

restore from your backup, how many people actually backup anything.:dunno:

Yes backup everything...using Time Machine & Time Capsule...Also use backup program on my smartphone and also encrypt the backups and thinking of starting to use encrypt backups for FTP/online sites.
