"Alpining" in Italian Alps...
2 Attachment(s)
They call it "alpinism" here in Europe but it's mountain hiking to me. Got a few pics from near Aviano Air Base Italy last Sunday. Been doing lots of high altitude climbing the last 3 weeks and it's helped me to get a 100% on my annual Air Force fitness test today so all that hard work was worth it. Got my orders xtended here 6 more days & don't leave until next Friday so I'm driving to Stuttgart to see a buddy this weekend. Gonna tour the Porsche museum Saturday & I'll get some more pics. Anybody been to the Porsche museum? Hope you're all having a good week!

Ah, driving the A22 Autostrada in Italy, then the AWESOME drive on the Brenner Autobahn through the Austrian Alps, on to the A8 to Munich (do not attempt at rush hours) and all the way to Stuttgart! There are some wonderful empty stretches of no speed limits after Munich, before Ulm. I guess it also depends on what kind of car you are in and the time of day. If you stop in Ulm, take the time to climb to the top of the Ulmer Munster. The highest church tower in the world.
If you have time, check out Salzburg. The drive around the Chiemsee then a climb to the top of Gaisburg is a nice side trip. |
