Bored & Weather Sucks...

1 Attachment(s)
It's 25 degrees and spitting sugar snow and viscous wet stuff down on us. I am bored outta my freaking gourd...burning and copying my Fave CDs to take to sunny FLA with us this coming season. I couldn't even find anyone to chase the ball with today; it even sucks down below at 3000' on the course.

TheCEO left early this am for her weekly quilting guild, then her piano lesson and I'm sitting here farting on the 'puter.

Nice morning shot of daFridge today; This is why we are heading to FlawRaDuh this winter...and, it's only late Oct. here on the Mtn:

Well... it's still beautiful up there, David!

Hey, which way do you go down to FL? Maybe on your way down, you guys can make a pit stop for dinner with the missus and me.

Juan

Thanks Juan, but when we roll for FLA in early Dec. it will be with the X and daFridge loaded to the gunnels, and 2 semi-drugged cats...any stop, other than a whizz/gas stop are very impractical, but I appreciate the offer.

They closed the Blue Ridge Parkway this morning, from MM 423, (where I often get on at the Waynesville entrance) to the end in Cherokee, NC @ MM 469, and also near Craggy Gardens "north" of Asheville and, in many sections up in Mitchell County. The locals are pissed because the leef peepers and touristas will be diverted. It has to really warm up before they open those sections again. Maybe by this weekend, maybe not. This is the earliest they have closed sections in the last decade. Global Warming is screwing up weather everywhere, imo.

Alain...good one! Lol!

The light snow/viscous cold rain continues...I Gotta chase the ball tomorrow. Cooped up here in late Oct., instead of Jan., is driving me crazy. I may catch Juan in posts before this month is over.

I hope to be hitting I-26 by next monday enroute to Charleston,SC - tell me I don't have to put the snow tires on :dunno: - after you tell me that, tell me if I need the snows :D - my trip also includes Atlanta to Mt Airy,NC around 11/16-18 from there I-77 to I-81 to I-78 on 11/19 - guess I'll have to cross my fingers for a warming trend :tsk:

Mark, No Xpert or soothsayer here, but I think you'll be fine. This initial cold wave is somewhat of an anomaly and is really altitude dependent in terms of the snow/really cold weather. Mt.Airy can be fine or crummy, weather-wise and, some of the two lane blacktops around here have corners that don't see the sun from now until next April. I-26 up in th TN passes is beautiful but also sees some cold stuff, but I-26 running from Asheville South will be fine.

Imo, you won't need any snows...much like where you are out west, the valleys and "flats" are generally 1-3 zones warmer than any altitude and the Mtns can make their own weather. FWIW, we are zooming north to NJ/NY TurkeyWeek to see the Gang: riding on the oem 18" with the 17" snows tucked in the basement and, still for sale, lol!

I'm sure you hit the usual weather links, but here's the Weather Underground I view: it IS lower elevation oriented by me, but jes'plug in the Zip you wanna see and you'll get their best guess just like the weather liars on TV.

Mark,

If you drive by the Charlotte area, and would like to get together for a drink or a cup of coffee, let me know! I feel I made some friends this past weekend (at the meet), and would love to meet more X5World members! :)

I'm going to DC for Thanksgiving. Anyone know where we can go to SEE some snow around that time? We'll be there for a few days, and would like to make a snow run one day. Wife and kids want to visit a few college campuses on the way home, just to see what they look like (more like a drive-through tour). I'm thinking they're only 11 & 12, they'll change their minds 100 times before then. Outnumbered 4:1, I'm sure I'll have to make the detour.

Thanks for the info - ran into snow on I-26 in NC last year this time, passing a 5 car accident - why do people believe because you have 4-wheel drive, you have 4-wheel stop?

Plans may go up in smoke - see my dr in a hour - I developed arrhythmia Sat, confirmed at the ER on Mon - on pills now - will find out more later - missed my college roomate's daughter's wedding 10/29 in Columbia already - find out my father has it and my younger brother has had it and still does from time to time - it figures something going wrong right after I finally get a will and living will done

Juan, love to stop in if your schedule permits - if you could Email me directions and a number at [email protected], I'll give you a heads up when I leave Atlanta - My Mt Airy relatives used to live in Flowery Branch which is Pepatrick's stomping ground I believe - well got to go - will post results when I get back from dr
