It's absolutely worth upgrading. XP has its roots in a 2001 release. A lot has changed. I've been using 7 quite extensively on my laptop, which was always quite slow, and upgrading to 7 has increased performance significantly.

XP Professional on desktop and Vista Business on my laptop seem fine :)
