Why, is it wrong? :dunno:

Wagner 08-28-2009 04:01 PM

Yeah..looks pretty damn accurate. Of course, we could remove the US and label the whole Eastern side GERMUSSIA :)

A little like this..

Stupid, dumb, inept Americans....United States of America: Freeing the world since 1776

You use them as a punchline! I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it! I would rather you just said "Thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to!

That southern bit of "cold" doesn't exist anymore according to Al Gore......

LOL!

X Foomph 08-29-2009 04:59 AM

That's hilarious :bustingup,
I'll give you a heads up though..............Tasmania has been left off the map of Aussie, and that really pisses off the Tasmanians. Don't recall any members here from there though.
And where are our New Zealand friends, that's where all the sheep in the world come from :D

Bozz 08-29-2009 07:59 AM

Hey X foomph dont forget that we invaded NZ not so long ago, remember this advert.
YouTube - NZ 100% there for the taking

pitty we didnt make one about Tassie

Don't sheep outnumber humans in NZ by some ridiculous ratio 15:1 or something? Seriously, when I went there many years ago, there are 3 things I remembered:

1. Very beautiful scenery
2. Sheep
3. slow pace of life

And yes, India is the call centre of the English-speaking world. But now they also have a luxury car division called Jaguar.

Not taking it too seriously. However, based on some of the frequent posts made on the Political Forum, this is sadly the way some of the members do view the world.......

A little humility wouldn't hurt...

Yep, you just took it too seriously. It's supposed to be taken lightly --- it's posted in The Lounge --- not the Politics forum. I think that it's quite funny :D It's like the picture that shows how New Yorkers view the rest of the world.

And, unfortunately, I don't think "humility" is the right word. Humility, for me, is too closely associated with (and often leads to) "humiliation".

motordavid 08-29-2009 01:01 PM

I thought that US view of the world map, was hilarious.

That cartoon by Steinberg...I have it in poster size, framed.

"They do our laundry and lawn" & "zoo animals come from here" is suppose to be funny, in perticularly to our international members? This is quite a stretch from what The New Yorker's post is depicting, don't ya think?

Yes, but it is by Americans, for Americans. Everybody should be able to laugh at themselves. Apart from the labels, I think the scale is funny. Look how big the US landmass is drawn in comparison to all the areas that are larger than the US.

You're obviously getting stressed out about this. I am from "zoo animals come from here". That comment does not bug me at all...

motordavid 08-29-2009 03:42 PM

Chile, Chill out, imo...
Yes, it's an egocentric view, but it's a freakin cartoon.

It is almost self-parody and self-deprecating. I'm a
US person, Ive been to half of the world, loved every min
in every country and culture I got to visit and spend time
in, and I still think the cartoon is funny.

That's what cartoons are for: to make us think and laugh.
Jeeshh...
GL,mD

statdoc 08-29-2009 04:01 PM

mD, you are wasting your breath. Remember, chile enjoys creating political strife when none is already present.

cbirk, I thought the cartoon was funny, also.

Naz24 08-29-2009 04:08 PM

cant forget about "end of ze world"

YouTube - End Of Ze World

i'm sure everyone here has at least seen this once....

Meiac09 08-29-2009 04:22 PM

I vote that we change the title of the map to "The world according to Sarah Palin" and leave it at that.

oops, does that make this a political thread?

blondboinsd 08-29-2009 10:26 PM

ROFL!

LeMansX5 08-30-2009 12:00 AM

Funny how North America is made so huge as against rest of world.
Someone with small P syndrome drew it.
