Ellie Greenwich, Off to Valhalla...
Who? I didn't know her by name either; often we don't know/realize who someone was, or what they "did", until their obit shows up in the NewYawkTimes, et al.
She was 68...interesting read in the link. I grew up to these songs; for some of you, they may be obscure. BR,mD She wrote/co-wrote some remarkable hit songs in the '60s: “Da Doo Ron Ron,” “Then He Kissed Me,” “Hanky Panky”, “Be My Baby,” “Baby I Love You” and “River Deep — Mountain High” and “Leader of the Pack” . http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/...28ellie190.jpg http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/27/ar...20Weber&st=cse |
I've never heard of her either but I know all those songs. However, I can't say I'm fond of any of them.

Paul Shaeffer had Ronni Specter on Letterman last night and did a tribute to her.
