I have two numbers --- one for personal and one for work-related calls. It was too difficult to use just one. I could not get the combination of rules that I wanted -- my set of rules were too complicated :(.

It's pretty cool for personal calls. Some numbers ring my home phone and my cell phone at the same; some numbers just ring the home phone. The voice-mail transcript that you get on email is really useful too.

Yeah, I just moved into the 21st century and got a number.

I have a couple, I use it to text my friends back home while I'm abroad and for people I don't want to give my number to.

How did you get an invite?

I think the Google Voice webseite has a link you can click to request an invite. Took me a couple weeks.
