"Close In" Creature & Flower Pics...
7 Attachment(s)
From late this summer/early fall. Most shot with my ol' Canon S50
pocket cam, which remains razor sharp, especially in macro mode. As Fall is quickly fleeting at this elevation, I needed a reminder of how creatures and native flowers look in August and September. :D Thanks for looking! BR, mD |
beautiful photos md thanks for posting .

Great shots as always. The hummingbird shot made me think of this video I saw a couple days ago, novel idea for bird lovers... if you have the patience!

Super pics as usual and even with your old P&S and not your new rig. :D
I wish I had the life of chasing the ball and snapping pics of hummingbirds all day. ;) |
Nice pics MD,
Hummingbird one is the money shot. Interested to know what the shutter speed was with those wings flapping at a cazillion beats a second. Please keep clicking through the winter (as if I had to ask you). |
Thanks for the views and kind words!
X Foomph: dunno shutter speed; set it on the "action" mode, which I rarely do. Very tough to stop their wings, almost regardless of shutter speed, w/out fill flash, imo. A couple of pics were actually taken with my ol' KonicaMinolta 5d DSLR, (the native Monarda/Bee Balm). The jury is still out on my new Canon 40D, especially for any distance/pano like shots...I am unimpressed. Seems like it has a "comfortable" range of 2 feet to ~30 feet max...could just be a junko lens or the "lack of focus problem" or, a lemon or...I was sucked in by the myth of higher end cams. I have shot in almost every possible mode/setting/aperture, focal length, etc. I give it a C+ on "picture quality" and about a D based on "cost/value". Bareazz trees up here, 20s at night, the summer creatures are gonzo. Time to migrate to FLA, though it's not my fave place on the planet. I have some decent/ok Autumn pics, I toss up to continue the boringazzpics theme. :D Thanks again, maties! BR, mD |
Hi MD,
The other day I received my usual monthly edition of Digital Photography tips, tricks and what have you and thought 'I wonder if MD would be interested in taking at look at this very interesting and informative lens click site'. It's moreso for the layman than the pros. Here's the link: About Digital Photography School If you choose not to subscribe, fine. But being the shutter bug you are I'll be surprised if you don't find something of interest there. Foomph |
