Just been announced that the Irish Football Association have made a request to FIFA for the game to be replayed...!
I hope they get they wish...(I doubt it!)
And no!..This is not a joke..:)

Football is probably the most un-European aspect of me; I can't bring myself to go to a game. Or watch an entire one on TV, although I have and will sit myself in front of the TV for a 15-30min stint. I have a nasty habit of jinxing any time that I watch. Like when Germany lost to Croatia 2 years ago while I was in Germany.

I think I'll stick to attendance at LAX games.

Let's play it again:

FIFA unlikely to honor Ireland's protest vs. France

Like the commentary there. Like I said, they both played like crap. Frances decent offense was met with Ireland's decent defense. I do think Ireland won in the number of fans who were passed out between the stade and the train station.

Only if you're a fan of France ;)

Not really. It means I have to get off my ass and get another ticket in person. :nanana:

For that, I would fear violence... Maybe there will be more than 3 police at that match though, and that would be a worthwhile experience to see.

FIFA said no replay.

Henry made a statement saying he definitely controlled the ball with his hand and he called for a replay of the game.

Very similar to what happens in American football. The refs can call "Holding" on EVERY play. EVERYONE holds... it's up to the refs to catch it.

Yes, it was handball. Yes, it should have been called. No, it wasn't. That's part of the game. It's not Henry's fault. He is doing all he can to win the game. Can't blame him for that.

Heck does anyone remember Maradona's "miracle" header some 20 years ago in the World Cup? This is not new... Feel badly for the Irish, but that's just the way it is sometimes.

Exactly. Think of all of the bad calls in the MLB playoffs this year, if they replayed every game where the bad call impacted the final score, the WS wouldn't have started yet!

There's no way that FIFA should allow a replay.

I would not have expected less from Henry.
