Proper use of punctuation with smilies

If you end a sentence with a smilie, should the punctuation mark be before or after the smilie?

Just wondering

Punctuation before smilie. :)

Well, I guess it depends upon whether you are talking about a simile or a smilie.

Is this a trick question designed to see of we are paying attention?. Will we be scored on the answers we provide?

A simile....As agile as a monkey
As alike as two peas in a pod
As annoying as nails scratching against a chalkboard.
As bald as a baby's backside
As big as a boat
As big as a bus

requires no punctuation to my knowledge

A smilie in my opinion, should have the punctuation before it as it is a symbol as opposed to a letter??? :dunno:.

I use smilies instead of punctuation ;) Not all the time though.

Wherever I feel like using them: punctuation, smilies or similes...:D

I do the smilie and then punctuation because I believe the expression completes the thought train that is in the sentence.
