so the 3 percent of iPhone customers consuming 40 percent of the data isn't an issue? Put a choke on what they comsume and the overall experience for the other 97% will rise exponentially. Alternately, keep things as they are and let the other 97% pay the freight for the 3% that can't get enough while feeding from the trough.

The current state of American wireless networks. Smartphone usage is up across the country, and as more smartphones come online along with other devices like 3G netbooks, mobile Internet devices, and (possibly) tablets the need for reliable mobile data service will become even more crucial than it is now.

Using devices like the iPhone is the future, We are going to carry these devices and use them. But instead of improving its network as demand increases, AT&T would rather blame the customer. IMHO blaming the customer for AT&T's short comings will not increase the network's success over the long term what it will do is alienate customers.
