Yeah its funny how many of those accused (and denied it) end up admitting it? And how about Jose Canseco who was ostracized by the sport and called a liar?

I'm still waiting for Roger Clemens to come up with a statement.

I am stunned. Who ever would have even thought RM was using steroids?

:)

Was wondering what motivated his admission...till i read this:

Quote:

McGwire's decision to admit using steroids was prompted by his decision to become hitting coach of the St. Louis Cardinals, his final big league team. Tony La Russa, McGwire's manager in Oakland and St. Louis, has been among McGwire's biggest supporters and thinks returning to the field can restore the former slugger's reputation.
I assume there may be consequences for lying to congress...

What a surprise. Just look at the size of the guy when he was breaking the record. Truth be told Major League baseball was hurting at the time and all those home runs were making things interesting again. The League and owners are also to blame. I really like Mark and remember as a kid having all his baseball cards.

Not that i'm defending McGwire... but he took the 5th. He chose not to speak so it wouldn't be used against him.
