Do you give back to your alma matter?

I've been shit on in 3 big ways this week by my school, once financially, once with grades, and another two with ego-inflated department chairs (so I guess that makes four... I made a C in Calc so don't take my word for it) and I haven't even graduated yet, and yet they're recruiting us (the students) to beg alumni for money at dinner time.

So my question is, do any of you actually give back? Were schools better where you went, or when you went? Or do you just use the selective recall?

Now I get to deal with housing since one of the suitemates left food out for a week and theres something growing in the kitchen. :tgif:

If my education and connections at the university I went to had helped me become successful then I suppose I would, but considering that it has nothing to do with my success and I dealt with bs as a student I promptly recycle their letters.

Hell, yes! of course, coming from a small college, my few bucks go a lot farther than at some big insitution - granted, this money comes after everything else is paid for and I probably would not give if I had gone to a "big" college

I am hit on by multiple alma maters. My college, med school and residency program all try to play the "we loved you and you owe us" card. It gets old.

Tuitions are higher than they've ever been in years, but they still need our money after the fact? Sounds like just as much of a scam as the church. The most my college gets is a license plate frame and a sticker in the backwindow so people will know I'm originally from Washington, not Idaho...nothing more.

Yeah - I give back to UF (University of Florida) and USF. More to USF (University of South Florida) , since UF do not need my money- they have big enough pockets.

Also, we have four (4) family members that went and graduated at USF (both undergrad and grads schools).

i'm paying full tuition at Cornell, yes all 55k of it..

i agree that it is quite ridiculous to donate especially after i am done here in four years. the worst part about this school is that they also nickel and dime you for EVERYTHING. I have to pay for laundry, i have to pay 700 a year for PARKING!!! and a bunch of other ridiculous things..

its very annoying when everybody around me is on financial aid, i mean obviously i know where my tuition money is going..

LMAO...exactly. It sounds like a bad marraige - you have to pay her bills when she's w/ you, then she wants alimony when she's w/ someone else ;)

Hopefully i wont have to experience that one!

haha did i mention that with that $700 parking pass, i can only park one spot on campus..and it is clearly not in any type of parking garage, yes, my poor car will be hit with the terrible ithaca winter. (and the massive amount of crow sh!t..idk where these things come from?)
