A prototype BMW caused a bomb scare on the Upper West Side this morning after the driver covered the vehicle with a tarp and left the engine running.
An alert passerby called the police after noticing the vehicle, a SUV, was parked directly in front of the main entrance of the Museum of Natural History on West 77th Street.
Within minutes, a bomb-squad team arrived, smashed the rear and side passenger windows, and determined the vehicle posed no threat.
The driver of the vehicle, which was decorated with zebra pattern decals, declined to comment.
Police said the driver is a full-time employee of BMW.

Bomb? Who care's about the bomb scare.....I want to know if that was the X1, X3, X7, X something....:dunno:

I did notice a Renault Megane' Coupe' in SOHO yesterday, camo'd. No bomb scare though with that secret car...

Would this be considered bad press or good press for BMW???

That makes sense....

I saw two of them roaming around the mother-ship in Woodcliff Lake.

in the first article that u posted .. if u read it it says the new X6:dunno:

"Police sources identified the driver as Martin Birkmann, a BMW brand manager and test driver. The vehicle, which had New Jersey dealer plates, appeared to be a new version of the BMW X6.'

I questioned the model because the X6 has already been introduced in the US. The X1 has not made a formal intro here, the X3 is under going final release for US, and the X7 was a distant concept talked about a long time ago, and X something (maybe talk of an X4...)
