Most of these laws are made for idiots and because of idiots...and it's a good thing...

My new phone has speech to text and Swype, so looking down at a keyboard has practically gone away. I just finally watched the video and I couldn't help but laugh at some of the comments, particularly the one about the helicopter pilot texting afterwords :D

One girl at work has speech to text on her phone, but said she wished they did it the other way too, text to speech so she wouldn't have to read either. One person talks and the other hears it, no typing needed.... I told her that technology has been there all along and she looked at me confused...? Had to remind her that was an actual phone in her hand and you could really have a person to person conversation using your own voices!

LMAO...touche! I have to admit though, I like texting instead of making phone calls. It can be something nice and quick to let them know I'm thinking about them, to ask for something, etc without the need to stop whatever I may be doing to have a conversation. Obviously if it's something that I can't say in under 480 characters, I'll just get off my ass, turn down the radio and make the call.

I agree that for something quick that can be said or asked in a sentence or two a text can be easier... But when certain friends try to have long conversations via text I always end up just calling them as I refuse to let a 2 minute phone conversation last 10 minutes through text.

Some of them do get their head examined - by the coroner.
