X5 World DC meet- feeler for attendance

Hey peeps, I would love to have all you criminals get together here in your nation's capital in May of '06 for an X5 World meet.

I would like to know who might attend and what weekend in May is best?
Saturdays & Sundays in May:

May 6th & 7th, 13th & 14th, 20th & 21st, and 27th & 28th (Memorial Day weekend).

Temps here in May range from daytime highs of 55 to 95 degrees, and lows from the lower 40's to the upper 60's. Spring is absolutely the best time of year to visit DC. The weather is awesome, and all the trees and flowers are in full bloom.

I am planning to rent one of the facilities in my neighborhood , depends on how many RSVP's there are as to which one I rent. All have plenty of parking and space for us. I'll also hook up some grub and beverages and hopefully get some vendors/BMW gearheads to show up. I can arrange for my buddy, Matt, to tint windows on site, etc.

Here's a link to a map of precisely where I'm located: it's about 10 miles from the White House in downtown DC. I am 8 miles from Reagan National Airport as well and 2 miles from the nearest subway station.

When you have a sec. let me know by posting here if you'd like to come and when would be best for you.

JV

motordavid 12-01-2005 01:04 PM

JV: Hell yes, count me & Veronica IN!

The only dates we simply cannot make are May 6 & 7th due to a committment.
Any other dates, post those, are fine.

If it turns out those are the dates, such is life.
Great idea, JV...you've taken on a load stepping up. Juan & L worked their fannies off this past Oct.

JV,

Janet and I will be there  All we need is the date.

JV 12-01-2005 01:16 PM

Excellent, fellas. I am wayyyy early putting this feeler out, but those clubhouses book up with wedding, parties, etc.

Keep piling on here, everybudday. Thanks.

ekaz 12-01-2005 01:27 PM

I drove forever and a day to Juan's and you're closer (only forever) so you know I'm going to be there.
Only iffy weekend is Memorial Day.

Juanted 12-01-2005 01:29 PM

Well, you know Liz and I are in. What dates are best to see the cherry blossoms? Maybe we can do it during that time? I know it's in May sometime, right?

Rob_, Phil, David, Kevin (ncx), Alain: Can you say "caravan"? :D

Juan-san. Cherry Blossoms are an April thing. They may still be hanging on by May, though. The only reason I wouldn't try to do this around that time is that we get inundated with tourists.

Oh, ok... no biggie. Any time is good for us, really. We have not made any plans yet, so if anything comes up, it'll have to planned around the 'meet. :D

Count us in on the Caravan...(maybe I'll buy a Dodge Caravan mini-van by then, :bustingup )

The Cherry Blossom Festival, fwiw, is scheduled for March 25-April 9th in 2006, all weather dependent. We'll still be in FLA then.

:( I wanna caravan too! :bustingup

How about everyone come up by me and we'll go from here? :p :D

Juanted 12-01-2005 02:29 PM

I don't think you need us to have a caravan, Eric. Don't you have five of six members near you?

(Make sure you bring drex with you. I'd hate to drive to Chicago to pick him up.) :D

Dinan,
Congrats on the new kid...hey, you could bring the almost due CEO, too; the Meet group has a remarkable Skill Set, imo. (Excluding yours truly,Lol!)

Sounds good to me. I'm local, so any of those dates in May is good for me. If you need any help, let me know.

We should hook up a golf outing; I'm sure we can get a few foursomes together.

Anyway to get someone to install AEs?

You are not alone...I see 6+ members on the Frappr in your area..... as long as my CEO does not change plans or something else comes up, I am in. How about another meet in your area sometime later next year? I see some members from WI, MI, IA and IN.

I've got several courses nearby, and a driving range with putt putt right in the neighborhood! www.topgolf.com

How's the Topgolf place? Is it as cool as they portray it to be?

It LOOKS nice, but I am not a golfer, so I really wouldn't know cool from uncool at a driving range. They have hotties in short shorts bringing you drinks and snacks while you schwack 'em. I do dabble at the putt-putt course every now & then, and that is a nice one there.

We've got two courses nearby, one is a 9 hole , the other is an 18 hole course which is county operated, and this county rakes in big $$$ through personal property taxes, etc. so it's not a bad course at all.

I can make arrangements at either one if some of y'all want to "chase the ball around" as md says.

It does not matter to me, right now any date would work. I cannot promise though that my company will not decide to send me somewhere overseas at the last minute but for the moment nothing on the horizon.

Ok, Alain. Based on this and other responses, I'm leaning towards the 13th and 14th, in case anyone is travelling on Memorial Day weekend, it can really suck to be gone two weekends back to back.

For some reason I have neglected this thread. Anyhoo, I won't be able to make it in May. We're expecting # 3 in early June, so there is no way I get to leave the very pregnant wife @ home with the two kids and the dog, unless the meet was in the NYC area, in which I'd be there. Here's hoping for the 2007 Meet!
