It says he was knighted on '06, but the picture of him being knighted is labeled '06. :P

Sad indeed...However, was glad to see somewhat of a resuscitation on a dying art with the recent grammy nod & win by young Esperanza Spalding...best new artist.

For years the most accomplished and celebrated musicians were awarded Grammys
earlier in the evening with just an honorable mention sometime during the program.
Unfortunately "Jazz" the only true American art-form is given very little attention at awards programs.

Unfortunate but true...Herbie Hancock's album of the year win was nice to witness in '08. Perhaps the sign of a young generation paying homage is a sign of good things to come for the genre.

Shearing was Knighted in '06...that bio link simply has a typo in the follow up paragraph. Pretty remarkable composer, musician and music.

They are not making them like those guys, these days, imo.
