No surprise to me ;)

No reason to wait.

Lot's of reasons.

1. Just introduced in November 2010 in ~ 38 cities
2. As of today, still does not support voice, only data
3. Won't be widespread till 2012

When apple introduced the first iPhone in 2007, 3G was in the same situation. Apple waited until June of 2008 to introduce, when 3G was more available

I mean no reason for "PEOPLE" to wait.

So the word is AT&T iPhone will not get LTE, but maybe Verizon iPhone will get LTE at the end of the year? ;) But, I agree, LTE will probably not be more prevalent until next year.

I would be shocked if Verizon gets the LTE version prior to AT&T, given the history of the relationships between AT&T and Apple (very good) as opposed to Verizon and Apple (shaky at best).

I suspect when Apple is ready to have the iPhone on LTE, it will be on both carriers at the same time. It does not make sense to make two different iPhones for different carriers. In fact, the Verizon iPhone 4 has Qualcomm's CDMA/GSM chipset in it. Apple did not want to reinvent the wheel on the iPhone 4 hardware design, otherwise, the Verizon iPhone 4 could have been a "world phone." The Qualcomm's CDMA/GSM chipset is the same as the one used in the Droid 2 Global and Droid Pro Global.

Best thing for Apple to do is to use a chipset that supports CDMA/GSM/LTE and make just one phone which will work on multiple carriers.

The best thing would be if Verizon would join the global standard. Once the EU ban on outrageous international roaming charges goes through, people are going to be sticking with one phone worldwide.
