Cruise Lines Avoid Mexico Due To Violence

This is a bit of old news since Carnival pulled out of Mexico a few months ago. It's really unfortunate. We've spent a few great vacations in Puerto Vallarta and Neuvo Vallarta. The people were really nice and we really enjoyed ourselves. I'd like to think Puerto Vallarta is not as hot a spot since it's not anywhere near the border but I guess the incidents in places like Cancun and another recent killing in a tourist city really cause some doubt about everywhere.

Actually the problem was reported the first of Feb and included three cruise lines - Disney, Holland America and Princess.These lines pulled Mazatlan from their West Coast itineraries because of increased violence directed at tourists.

Passengers and crew members have been mugged in Mazatlan, and a visitor from British Columbia was wounded in the leg during a gang-related shootout.
