lol! Thanks man! I was getting worried about the speed it was growing. Not so much what it was.... Just the fact that my body had noth'in for it to fight back. What ever antibiotic was in my IV, had it's number. Once they cut it out, that IV wrecked shop on it.

That's quite the bite! Glad you're okay, Jordo. We've got brown recluse and black widows in our neighborhood. Reminds me to be careful and wear gloves when working in the yard.

Antibiotics are useless against the spider venom. If you had an infection on top of the envenomation, the antibiotics will fight that.

Like I tried to say before, brown recluse spider bites are simply bad news. Many treatments (steroids, antibiotics, dapsone, surgery, and more) have been tried; none proven to accomplish much of anything.

Jordo, looks like it was a very uncomfortable ordeal! I'm waiting to see if this happens to me as there is a very high population of spiders by the new place. (mostly funnel weavers and wolf spiders though)

And that excerpt Belknap posted if from Evil Dead 2, one of my favorite cult classics!

Wow that is a nightmare. I have heard that brown recluse have made thier way up to upstate ny :(. The wound reminds me of that movie requim for a dream, about the dope junkees. Treat yourself to something nice after that ordeal!

Man oh Man that looks crazy, its good to see that you are OK. I wonder if Obama Care would allow that surgery....or just send you home with a couple of pain pills.

Hope you're feeling better.

Medications to counteract spider venom is not available in
the United States or Canada.

Your case is open sore and dead skin. Treatment includes
removing the dead skin. Replacing the dead skin with new skin may
be necessary.
