Good Vacation spot.

So over the Thanksgiving holiday (I know I know, it was a little while ago, but I have been busy with work and a recent birthday weekend) I went up to Banff and Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada. The first 2 nights we stayed at The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise... Words cannot describe this place. I can't recommend a better hotel to stay in, and I have been in some pretty nice ones around the world. We stayed in room 882, the Belvedere Suite, a must. It was a 2-story suite. Flat screen LCD's on both levels, a private balcony with a view of all the mountains, the ski resort and beautiful Lake Louise itself. The interior decorating was top notch. And not to mention the best shower I have ever used, ha-ha. The service by the hotel staff was great as well. The next 2 nights I stayed at The Fairmont Banff Springs, also amazing, styled after a Scottish baronial castle. There was so much to do inside of this hotel. Tons of bars, lounges, restaurants, shops, spas, and the list goes on forever. The room was not as nice as before, but it worked. I was able to get in 4 days of snowboarding while I was there, 2 days at Lake Louise and 2 days at Sunshine Village. Both good mountains, just needed more snow. I am spoiled; my home mountain is Mt Baker, Washington. We have tons of snow. I have a season pass and I have hit Baker 7 times this year, so I am doing pretty well. Any questions, hit me up. Oh and I would have killed the have the X up there, the little Escape got us by, but I was dying for my X.

Holy cow! That sounds like a great trip, and you didn't even get eaten by polar bears! :D

Shameful as it is, I've been in Canada for a decade, but still haven't ventured into the west or maritimes. :tsk:

Do you have any pics of the slopes and/or hotels?

Sounds like a great trip. I haven't stayed at those Fairmonts, but we usually stop for lunch at the Fairmont Lake Louise on our way through. The story of the hotels is interesting, how the Canadian Pacific (CP) railway built destination hotels all those years ago.

We were by there this past summer, with four friends from Sutton Coldfield in the UK. There were 7 of us, so we rented a Navigator for the week and left the X at home. Everytime I go through the parks there, I am amazed all over again at the scenery. Our visitors were blown away, they had never been to Canada, let alone through the Rockies. From Vancouver, we stayed in Jasper, Banff, and Radium, before going down through the Okanagan for the wineries.

Come back soon, we appreciate those tourist dollars!

The Navi seems to be a VERY popular rental car in Canada... I do not have any pictures on the computer, sadly... But I do however have a few fantastic ones sitting here on my desk. I am trying to decide which ones to frame, or make into Christmas cards. =]

Anyone interested in a resort home???

The Canmore/Banff/Lake Louise area is one of the most spectacular four-season experiences on earth.... and a bargain from a world price perspective. In that region I head up the international sales for what what will soon become one of the world's foremost health/wellness/adventure resorts www.tsmv.ca. A keystone to the resort will be the second location of el Monte Sagrado, rated by Conde Nast Traveller magazine as one of the top wellness spas in the world. During the summer, the resort boasts a championship golf course (ranked the best new course in 2002 by Golf Digest).

There will be a major launch in March of the next phase of the development, with some fantastic real estate opportunities available (think Aspen for one tenth the price and you get the idea). The biggest launch will take place in the U.K. (watch for a major editorial in the Times in January, and advertising beginning in March), with a secondary launch probably in Texas and California.

For anyone interested in information, check out the website above and feel free to PM me. A completely new website will be launched shortly. You can also watch for the Nordic World Cup being held there (Canmore) this week and broadcast worldwide.
