I still remember the subject on the stupid morning show I listened to on the way to school, as well as everything grinding to a halt and the teachers wrangling us into a room and then seeing them stunned and crying. I was 11, and they told our school, class by class, what these things called terrorists were in the gym. My family and friends in the area were all safe, and my friends' whose parents by the grace of God had missed their connections in Boston were safe as well. There are surveillance tapes of the terrorists using my bank in Maine's ATM and the "9/11" hotel has an eerie presence overlooking the Maine Turnpike.
Good lord I feel old. Yesterday was definitely an unsettled feeling. The German media played the images of the towers falling far too much, and I saw more police patrols than I have the entire time I've been there. I watched CNN and just felt for the people there reading the names off. That day is burned into my mind, forever.
